Goodbye Steve!

Today we got up at 5am to take Steve Daniel to the airport. It was exciting and a bit of an honor to do so, since several other people had wanted to be the ones to do it. We were lucky enough ask him before anyone else did. ! ha ha!
So, basically I look like a troll this early in the morning. Speaking of gross, the mosquitoes were out in FULL FORCE!!  I never knew they were this bad at 5:30am, but then again, I am often going to bed around 5:30am, not waking up.
Steve was the one who picked us up from the airport when we first arrived. It was nice to be able to return the favor!
When we left him at the check-in line, I started to cry on the way out. You get really attached to people down here. We all have to help each other and rely on each other to survive this crazy island.
We will definitely miss Steve, but there are a few people that have been missing him even more: his wife and kids. Karla left back in May to have her baby in the U.S. She took the other three kids with her, and Steve has been living all alone this entire semester. He witnessed the birth of his new son via Skype.
It was time to be reunited with his loved ones. Good luck Steve! We will miss you!
After the airport excursion, there was no way we could go back to sleep. Oh well. We got dressed for church a few hours earlier than usual. I was so bored, I started harassing Robert with my point-and-shoot camera.
I'm laughing because i knew EXACTLY how this pic was going to turn out. ha ha ha ha ha!

After church was over, I was trying to find something to do. You can only play on facebook for so long.
So I saw this cute recipe on Pinterest, and really wanted to try it! It involves using wontons to make mini tacos....... But there are no such things as gluton free wonton wrappers! grr!!!! So, time to make my own! I found a recipe that calls for 1 cup flour, 1 egg and 2-4 tbs water (so easy, right?)

Yes that IS an Olive Oil bottle I am using as a rolling pin! Welcoom too dih eyelahnd, mon!
okay, about this far into the project I was starting to think: Gee this is a lot of sweating for some tiny little wonton wrappers! .....argh.

well, at least they turned out okay.  Let's just hope they hold up when we make some mini tacos tomorrow!
